Online e- SEWA for Miscellaneous Consular Services.

The Embassy of India, Sao Tome would be rendering Miscellaneous Consular Services (Attestation, Power of Attorney, Life Certificate, Registration of Child Birth & Registration of Death etc) on the SEWA portal of the Ministry of External Affairs with effect from 23 April, 2025.

  • Please visit the website (https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in) for availing various Miscellaneous Consular Services through Online Consular Services System (SEWA Portal).

  • Please sign up and create your account using the above weblink. Activation of your account will be done by using OTP received on your registered e mail ID. Once your account is activated, please login to your account and apply for the required miscellaneous consular service. Users can avail multiple services with the same account. Users may follow each step and fulfil the requirements of online application process including uploading the documents and submitting the same on the portal.

  • While applying for specific service, the specific list of required documents (self-attested copy to be uploaded) is also provided with each service.

  • Once all the documents are scrutinized and approved, the applicant is required to come to the Consular Section of Embassy of India, Sao Tome with the original papers/documents on any working day between 0900 hrs to 1600 hrs

  •  The applicant has to deposit the required fees in the BISTP, Bank, Sao Tome.

  • The copies of the documents will be matched and verified with the uploaded documents. On verification of the same, service will be rendered to the applicant.

  • In all cases, Application for Miscellaneous Services is to be submitted duly filled in under the signature of the applicant with following documents:-

  • Copy of passport with passport of applicant.

  • Documents with a copy each.

  • Photographs (3.5x3.5cm) affixed on the application form.

  • In case of registration of birth, a sworn in Affidavit by both parents that the child has not obtained foreign nationality. Birth certificate issued by local Govt. body with a copy to be enclosed. The birth certificate should bear the names of parents.

  • For registration of death, death certificate issued by local competent authority with cause of death therein with a copy thereof.

  • Power of attorney/Sworn in affidavit is to be signed in the presence of Consular Officer.

Yes. It is mandatory that no column is left unanswered.

  1. Are laminated documents accepted for submission?

No.

  1. Are 'Empire of India' Passports issued by the British authorities in India prior to Indian Independence accepted as a proof of Indian Origin?

No, if they state the National Status of the holder as British subject by birth. Yes, if they state the National Status of the holder as person of British Protectorate, originally a citizen of a place in India.

4. Is there an emergency service for OCI?

No. If you are travelling in the near future and have an emergency, please apply for visa.

5. I am an OCI holder. What documents should I carry while travelling to India?

OCI holders should carry the OCI booklet. In case his Passport has expired, there is no need to transfer 'LIFE LONG' Visa to the new Passport, but the new Passport is to be carried. Applicants are welcome to apply for transfer, but it will take the same 5-6 weeks as in the case of fresh applications.
